1. 课程介绍：
AP中国语言文化课程主要是学习有关汉语的发展, 使用, 演变, 包括华人区汉语的使用。语言的使用无所不在,它反映了文化的各个方面,其本身就是文化的一部份。

2. 课程要求：
a. 参与个人,小组,班级的慱客写作(日记, 评论, 感想,专题介绍) 。
b. 选择20个有关语言文化的题材写作。
c. 制作5个视听节目, 语音, 影视, 网页, 播客。
d. 建立个人课程网页。
e. 专题报告一探讨中国语言文化。

题材介绍:
风俗, 节日, 饮食, 家庭, 保健, 体育, 居住, 交通, 服饰, 艺术, 书法, 绘画, 曲艺, 戏曲, 民乐, 歌舞, 礼仪, 宗教, 名胜, 地理, 教育, 茶艺, 气侯。

Developing Effective Instructional Strategies for the AP Chinese Course
In this session, participants will be given a general overview of the AP Chinese course and the concept of integrating four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) into three communication modes (interpersonal, interpretive and presentational) to reach the five language learning goals of Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisions and Communities. Instructional strategies will then be demonstrated within the content areas of "daily life," "work" and "today's Chinese speaking world." Small group discussions will be conducted throughout the session, with a question and answer period at the end. This session will give participants a clear understanding of how to design effective strategies for teaching the new AP Chinese course.

Instructional Technologies in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture
In this session, participants will gain a clear understanding of the instructional technologies used in teaching Chinese and culture. The approaches with mobile laptops, PDA, wireless connection along with Internet, weblogs, web design, digital imaging in classroom will be presented. Student feedback and assessment will be discussed and student projects will be shared. At the end of the session, participants will be ready to try some of the approaches in their teaching practice.

Integrating Critical Thinking Skills into the AP Course
This session will highlight one of the strengths of the AP Chinese course -- critical thinking skills. The presenter will demonstrate how to integrate higher order thinking skills, such as hypothesizing, analyzing, synthesizing, predicting and making judgements into the instruction of all three modes of communication. Problem solving examples will be chosen from each of the interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communication modes for small group discussion. In addition to critical thinking skills, social and cultural appropriateness will also be discussed, so as to provide the proper context for successful language learning. At the end of this session, participants will know how to design student-centered activites that utilize the critical thinking skills needed in a Chinese-speaking environment.

In this session participants will meet members of the AP Chinese Development Committee and will learn about the course and exam development, the timeline and logistics of the first administration of the exam, the general test organization and its components. They will also examine specific representative test items. The session will also discuss resources and opportunities for professional development. The session will conclude with a question and answer period.

Chinese Language and Culture
In this session, members of the AP Chinese Exam Development Committee will focus on the AP Chinese Language Course. Participants will learn how the AP Course differs from other high level Chinese courses. The presenters will focus on the official Course Description and how to fulfill the requirements of the Course Audit. Topics will include student performance goals, standards-based teaching practices and strategies to teach both language and culture to prepare students for the AP challenge. The session will conclude with a question and answer period. Participants will be encouraged to share their own course arrangements, curriculum, best practices, or challenges they face in teaching Chinese.

Adapting Authentic Cultural Materials for the AP Chinese Course
In this session, participants will gain a clear understanding of the characteristic of perspectives, practices and products that reflect Chinese culture. Through examples of authentic cultural materials, such as paintings, folktales, songs, travel guides, mass media and artifacts, participants will first discuss how they reflect the underlying beliefs and values inherent in Chinese culturel and then move on to developing thematic units for language instruction. A step-by-step approach will be used to guide small groups to create a webbing of themes, and a template will be provided to develop standards-based lesson plans. At the end of the session, participants will be able to develop thematic units with multiple related topics interwoven into meaningful language instruction.
